Come Visit "Black Lake Asylum" Local artist and fright master Ben Isitt (www.bensartworks.com) has teamed up with Freighthouse Square (www.freighthousesquare.com) to host Tacoma's only haunted house, Black Lake Haunted Asylum. This giant display of a "medical research facility gone horribly wrong" is certain to instill fear in the stoutest of hearts. In the winter of 1939, construction began on the state-of-the-art medical facility, Black Lake Medical Asylum and Research Facility. Dr. Herbert West, the famed East Coast neuroscientist, was appointed as the first Chief of Staff of what was supposed to be the premiere neurosurgical research facility on the West Coast. Soon after he took up his post in the spring of 1940, things at Black Lake started to go very wrong... This is the story of Black Lake Asyllum..." Freighthouse Square, hosting its first annual Haunted House, has teamed up with a number of local artists, media companies and other purveyeors of "fright" to create a unique experience for all its guests, including: Rain City Hearse Club, Funky Monkey (104.9FM), the Weekly Volcano, SOTA, A portion of the proceeds from the haunted house will go to My Sister's Pantry Food Bank in Tacoma. A number of events are slated to accompany this event, including:
The Rain City Hearse Club will also be making live appearances around town from now until October 31, passing out discount coupons and promotional materials for this chilling event! Look for the hearses to get free stuff! |
